Do my friends need to download the app to join a roll?
Nope - it's their choice. Friends and guests can join, shoot, react, and upload from the web app in any browser, or grab the iOS app if they'd rather. That goes for free private rolls and paid events alike. Just tap the invite link or scan the QR.
What's the difference between a Roll and an Event?
A Roll is free - create one for any trip, party, pet, couple, or group of friends. Everyone you invite adds their photos and it lives in the app forever. An Event is a paid, hosted roll with extra features: QR invite, a pre-event countdown with reminders and calendar invites, shots-per-guest limits, a reveal timer, host review controls, and a recap video included. You pay once per event based on guest count.
What does Roll+ add?
Roll+ removes private-roll archive and member limits, unlocks full-quality exports, and adds Shared Tags plus Photos Sync. Shared Tags organise photos by moment, team, client, job, or anything else. Photos Sync creates matching Apple Photos albums and keeps enabled albums updated as new uploads arrive.
How much does an event cost?
Events start free for up to 5 guests. Paid tiers start at $9.99 for up to 25 guests, up to $149.99 for unlimited guests. You pay once - no subscription, no renewal. You pick your guest count when you create the event.
What happens to my photos after the event?
Your photos and videos stay in the app as long as your account is active. You can export them at any time - individually or as a batch download. The recap video is yours to keep and share.
Can I control what guests upload?
Yes. As the host you can set shots-per-guest limits (10, 25, 50, or unlimited), choose when the album reveals (instantly, after the event, or at a custom time you pick), and optionally review guest uploads before they go live in the album.
Can guests see each other's photos during the event?
That's up to you. With “Reveal instantly,” guests see photos as they land. With “Reveal after the event,” photos are hidden until you drop the album - like a digital film reveal. You can also set a custom reveal time.
Is there a group chat?
Yes. Every roll has a built-in group chat. Guests and friends can message directly inside the roll - no need to switch to WhatsApp or a separate thread.
What is a recap?
A recap is an auto-generated cinematic vertical video made from the best photos in your roll. Pick a template (Weekend Film, Party Roll, Film Strip, and more), add music, and export a ready-to-share video for TikTok, Reels, Stories, or Shorts. Every paid event includes a recap.
Is YourTake private?
Completely. Rolls are invite-only - only the people you invite can see them. Events are accessed by QR or invite code. There is no public feed, no algorithm, and no strangers can find your roll.
Do I need an iPhone?
No. You can host and join entirely from the web app in any browser - no iPhone, no download. The iOS app is a nicer, more polished experience if you have one, but it's never required.
Does it work on Android?
Yes. Everything runs in the web app, so Android works for both hosting and joining - create rolls and events, shoot, and upload right from your browser. A native Android app will make it even smoother down the line; the iOS app is available today.
